Two questions for surgery

1. Can surgery worsen apnea? I read that apnea is a side effect but was hoping that surgery would help.

2. Silly question, will anything grow back skull-wise? I can't find anything on what happens next. If nothing, what protects the brain???

Hi....the area of bone that is removed is so small ( or should be) that the skull should be fine....some Drs use a titanium mesh/plate but this is used to help hold the cerebellum up where it belongs...not sure it is meant to cover the opening made......

Again for each of us things are different but apnea can get better...remain the same or worsen....there is no way to know for sure.

But since u already have it, post op u will or should be on oxygen for a while to make sure everything is ok....and  I am sure they will monitor u for use of a C-Pap wile u r in the hospital....possibly test u post op to see if there were changes.
