What do you do long term about the things you can no longer do?

Hello to all! Hope you are feeling well! I have my share of surgeries after being diagnosed in 2008. I have had the original decompression surgery but ended up with an infection where another surgery was required. The infection occurred again and I ended up with bacterial meningitus leading to a vp shunt and then another decompression surgery because of scar tissue and syrinx. So I have had to leave my work and I am realizing how much help I need on a daily basis. It is really hard to get things from the floor and I am constantly dropping things. I can't reach up for things on shelves. Daily household chores are not possible for me to finish. I lose my balance constantly. What do you do because I live with my parents but they are getting to an age where they can't help me as they once did? Is there help available?

Hi...I had a few years I did not do much due to similar issues you mentioned...but I only had the one surgery that was Chiari related....my decompression was in "09....and  recently I have been more active...I still have down time, but I am doing more now there I had since surgery....I no longer drive and I do not hold a job....I am married, so I am not dependant on aging parents as yourself....

Check with the city  and township /county you live in  as there may be help with care givers that can come into the home to help you with things.....
