What is this Divot in my back?

I have what appears to be a significant divot in my back just under my waistline. It is Right over the spine guessing L-4,L-5,L-6,L-7. It's quite noticeable and if it is touched, pain begins radiating down my hips, into my legs, around my stomach and rib cage! It just appeared 2 weeks ago!  I have difficulty getting out of a chair, standing to prepare a meal for 5 to 10 minutes, and I am quite fatigued.  What is going on?  Is this serious?  I am in pain 24/7!  Rest and pain pills aren't even coming close to relieving the constant pain I'm in!  PLEASE advise.

Hi...was checking in to see if you adding anything else...and looked at your bio and saw you had spine surgery on your thoracic spine....have you had it looked at since this pain started?

Wondering if maybe you had scar tissue that formed or possibly a syrinx?

If you are ok with this, I will see that your post is moved to the back and neck forum to see if they can be of help....we also have a Spinal Cord C/D forum....but I would be the one asking you questions there so, since I already have it may be best to move out of the Chiari forum and to one where others may have a similar issue.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

May I ask, have you been DX'd with Chiari?

If so, it could be a related condition called tethered cord....what were you doing prior to it appearing?

I know I tried some pilates and caused a cyst where my cord is tethered to burst...and that can be painful....the indent could have been there b4 and you not notice bcuz you did not have the pain....for those with TCS the indent is called a sacral simple.

Not being a medical professional, and even if I was there is no way to say what it is with out a Dr giving you an exam and doing some testing....MRI's etc....

Nope!  Never heard of Chiari Malformations & never diagnosed with it.  I've had back and spine problems for years.  I had a CT-Scan in September with an iodine based contrast.  As I am allergic to Iodine, I was given Prednisone to counteract the side effects.  When I got home I couldn't even catch my breath!  I couldn't get out of bed for two weeks without help.  The lower part of my Spine felt like it had blown up!  My PCP ordered an MRI that showed Spondylolisthesis and significant bulging at every segment in the Lumbar Spine.  The pain is intense, crippling and feels like lightening strikes!  Stabbing and jolting that make me feel like I'm going to fall on the floor!  I'm 72 years old & NEVER suffered this badly with chronic back pain!  PLEEEEEZZZZZZ HELP!!
