Whole body numbness

i was driving to my moms this morning and started with numb hands and then my feet. It quickly progresses to my legs and forearms and then into my mouth and the back of my head. I had to pull over and call my husband and by the time he got there my abdominal area was numb and all the way into my back. I had no use of any of my limbs and breathing was difficult. I ended up going by ambulance to the hospital in St. Louis. They didn't give me any neurological exam and basically just sent me home saying the cat scan looked alright. I've never had this happen before and I was very scared that I was dying or gonna be paralized....has this happened to anyone before? I told them that I was 5 months post op and concerned something is wrong. They just sent me home with no answers at all

It is possible it could be a syrinx that has formed post op....or scar tissue.....
calling your new NS is a good idea as he may want to see you sooner....

Keep us posted and I pray you do not have another experience like that again.

Was just wondering if this sounded in any way symtomatic of a syrinx? I didn't have one pre op but I know it can form post op as well. In sure I will get an answer next month but I'm the meantime it has me thinking

I've never been more scared in my life as I was at that moment. I had no use of any of my limbs and it was hard to breath because my abdominal area was numb and sunken in. I didn't see a neurologist at the hospital so he had no advise for me whatsoever. I am scheduled to see a new ns in January since the old one doesn't seem helpful at all. I may give the new guy a call to inform him what happened and hopefully he can enlighten me some.

Hi...I am so sorry you had a scare like that.....I am not sure what happened but can only assume the way you held yourself driving may have caused a nerve to be pinched.....Contact your NS and let them know....when do you go back to see them? I had a 6 month post op check as well as 1 yr.....

Let us know what your NS thinks.
