brain fog?

Along with my non stop headaches, neckaches, tingling,etc.etc. I feel like I live in a fog, I cant think clearly ever! It drives me crazy! It's not like I'm dizzy just so foggy. It's hard to explain and the Dr's look at me like I'm nuts! Has anyone else experienced this?

mental fog possibly the most scary and uncomfortable symptoms of them all. sometimes I feel so disconnected it's like I'm watching a movie. At times I feel completely unplugged from the world around me. It's the worst.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

For now until u have more testing u may want to look at our list of things to avoid with Chiari/Syringomyelia...it is in the Health Pages  as well as other helpful info -http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=186

Not everyone with Chiari are surgical candidates and none of us really want this or the surgery either....since u have only noticed the symptoms for a short time could u have experienced a fall or illness such as the flu or been in a MVA which could have triggered ur symptoms?

So many of us have had symptoms our entire life, but were so accustomed to them we were not aware we had symptoms that connected to nething else....chiari symptoms do cycle making it hard to connect all the dots.

U should be able to do ur elliptical the problem may be ur shoulder area bcuz of the handle bars... u should be ok...a recumbent bike may be better for u....listen to ur body.....

U Dr will be RXing more tests..a CINE MRI and MRI's of the spine to rule out related conditions....

Know u r not alone <3

I was diagnosed this morning with a 6mm CM-1. I'm a 35 year old female. nearly a month ago, I woke up with severe vertigo... they though I had inner ear issues. went for an MRI yesterday morning, told today my brain is falling out of my skull. (scary, shocking stuff) I have been telling people for a month now that I feel like I'm living in my own little world. everything seems "off"... "hazy"... I miss feeling like my old self and fear I will never see her again. I don't want to get the surgery. I dont want to have this. I can't believe it. I dont know what I can or can't do. can I do my vigourous 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical anymore? will the bouncing from running make my brain fall out more? I'm so scared.

Yes...I experience the fog all the time....even as I am typing this....Im half convinced that my ADHD is actually just a chiari fog....I have days and days where I sit in class and im listening the the fog prevents me from processing it properly. It's like its in the way....I dont know how to explain it....I think it is probably my worst symptom....You are not alone in this!

This is a typical issue with all chiarians so u r not alone with this issue...brain fog, cognitive issues....word searching...u name it we all deal with it at one time or another.....

Shopping is another issue as u have the florescent lights affecting u as well...always  a reason for me to get in and out...not a shopper here : P

Oh good, i'm so glad to hear that I'm not loosing my mind! Lol. I'm so sorry others go through it as well but nice to know that I'm not alone. I was shopping with my DD yesterday for her upcoming baby shower and it was just too much for me to take. So frustrating!
