burning sensation in spine

I have chiari 1  and have had surgery yet. I had a cine MRI last week and one of my spine.  The Dr said I do not have a syrnix., so what would cause a burning sensation in my spine when I try to file at work or do dishes or just move a certain way.

I have that all the time. I have a syrinx in my cervical spine, but the pain is in my lowe back. I do have lumbar stenosis, that was missed on 2 MRI's so the dr's aren't really sure which is causing it. Did they do a full spinal MRI?

Hello,

It's hard to say what would cause it but I had the burning down my spine and there was no syrinx found with me either. Not only that, but my legs were severely affected just like when you have a syrinx. I had several of the other symptoms too. The way it was explained to me was that the sheer pressure on my spinal cord could cause all the same symptoms. I found with me that the burning in my spine was much worse when I was stretching it out, like reaching up high or trying to stretch out my back. I would feel the burning and then I'd start to feel like I couldn't breathe and that I might pass out. When you think of it, I was probably causing my brain to pull down therefore temporarily worsening my symptoms.

Do you have a surgery date?

Carolyn
