fitness question

I am about 40 days post-op and am feeling great. I've been walking at least 20 minutes a day, sometimes 45 minutes a day. I have lost about 5 lbs since my surgery and am trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle, including eating a high-veggie diet (not vegetarian, though).

Are there any good strengthening exercises I can do that won't cause too much pain? I tried opening a window screen at work yesterday and it was actually almost too much to handle! I've been able to do modified push ups fine. What do you think about just using resistance bands while standing up, maybe just working on my arms?

Thanks, Selma. Did not know there was a thread on wednesdays! is it just like a regular post under the "Chiari Malformation" page, like your prayer threads?

We have a thread on Wednesdays that have exercises for those of us with limitations...be it surgery or the chiari itself.

U would want to start with the first exercise and slowly build up that one exercise so that u r doing it for more then 10 mins at the end of 2 weeks...then add the 2nd exercise....there is one sitting in a chair so we do not have to worry about balance...and as u build up ur stamina, u will get to using weights...light weights...u can use soup cans or what ever u have.

But go slow, and only do as much as feels ok.....

I am getting these from a Dr...and please post feed back as to what works and what does not and y so I can get more ideas.
