just wondering

Hi All. Just wondering has anyone had or heard of this.
If my son scratches himself.. i.e. scratches an itch. His skin loses colour and takes about 4-5 minutes to return to normal colour. (The area turns snowy white)
I'm probably watching him too much now and seeing symptoms in everything.

Thanks Selma.
I'm not sure what it is. It only changes colour when he scratches it. I'll keep an eye on it and make sure it's checked again.
Thanks
Jackie.

Hi Jackie....I found some info on skin and color changes...I hope it helps.

Skin color changes: Skin changes such as redness, blueness, or whitening.
Introduction: Changes to skin coloration can indicate various medical conditions. Whitening can occur due to infections or to loss of pigmentation such as in vitiligo. Paleness can indicate a variety of severe infections, either local or to the entire body. Redness can indicate a variety of possibilities including local skin inflammations. Blueness can indicate cyanosis such as from lack of circulation and can be very serious. Dark skin, darkening of the skin, or "hyperpigmentation" can occur due to various medical conditions. Any changes to skin coloration need medical investigation.

Paleness: Whitening or pallor of the skin
Introduction: Several severe illnesses lead to general pallor of the body ranging from anemia to leukemia to heart conditions. Localized pallor can also occur in areas of poor circulation such as the hands and fingers in Raynaud's phenomenon. Paleness of the skin needs to be distinguished from other symptoms such as whitening of the skin or hypopigmentation (loss of skin pigment). Any form of paleness or pallor needs medical investigation.

Raynauds is listed, I was dx with that and I was later told it was not raynauds but Ehlers-Danlos which is a chiari related condition,....if ur DS does have this itis best known b4 surgical intervention.

Good Morning Ray.
Apart from a few teenage pimples his skin is normal. This is another new thing. His skin always turned red easily.. but this is different. Really unnatural shade of white. I had a doctor look at it last nite.. but didn't offer any answers.

Hi Jackie.
Dose his skin look normal or dose he have skin problems?

I have recently been DX with vitiligo a skin Depigmentation issue that became obvious recently after being out in the sun. I dont know if it is due to nerve damage but I do know that skin changes are sometimes seen in neurological issues such as Chiari....
