How is your daughter today? I am looking into doctors for my Chiari-l malforamtion. I don't know who to go too.
Hi there! My daughter had her first decompression with Dr. Rosner in 2007. I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have. I will pm you my email address.
Blessings,
Rebecca
Do u all know the story of Louis Pasteur? Read up about it, other Drs and members of a board tried to stop him as they did not believe in GERMS...we have so much to be thankful to him for...one not listening to others that put him down, and for keep researching the things he knew and believed in....we r all better for it...and many of the Chiari drs fit in this mold and have the same procrastinators putting their work down.....
All we all can do it our own research and try to look at y they r ignoring the work....many do not feel Chiari can cause symptoms....really?
My PCP was actually more open & supportive (if somewhat incurious) of surgery than the "specialists". Yeah, I heard it all too, but fortunately Dr. Rosner was my NS before the witch hunt.
As soon as I feel up to it, I'm going to write letters to the docs who tried to talk me out of surgery, When I'm no longer angry. It's not even about me; it's about the people who are not being helped! There's a conservative mind set, and then there's closed mindedness. The genuine Chiari specialists are probably several decades ahead of the rest. Some of us don't have the time to wait.
We had an appt with Rosner that we ended up canceling because our family doctor and my husband's neurologist that sees him for seizures both warned against him, and our current NS also said the same thing. But - that being said - Rosner has a LOT of patients who stand by his side, as does his hospital and his staff. That's got to say a lot.
For us the decision to not go to him was more about losing the trust and care of our primary doctor who we love dearly.
Meet him and see what you think... your own opinion and the way you feel will help you make the decision.
Dr. Rosner has performed surgery on me twice--a laminectomy in 2000, and a craniotomy 2 weeks ago. I would, and have, trusted him with my life. He's the most caring dr I've ever had. The lawsuits were indeed frivilous and cruel; all they accomplished was his public humiliation for being a medical pioneer, and preventing patients from getting the help they needed! This is what happens when you stray from the party line. His nurse attended his hearing (in which no one was allowed to testify on his behalf)--people on the medical board were sleeping!!
The lawyers have benefitted from the lawsuits.
I would advise calling Park Ridge hospital to get professional opinions on him, if patients' opinions aren't enough. My nurse told me that he's their most dedicated dr. I believe it; he was there twice/day to see me.
We all have felt like that at this point in our journey....u r not alone : )
Take a deep breath and keep asking questions : )
Thank so much for that information. I feel I am just all over the place with this problem
God Bless
U may find that to be the case with most of the Drs.....and the lawsuits tend to be frivolous....
Meet with the Dr and ask questions....Dr R is one of the top chiari Drs around...
I am sure if u post a new thread asking for those that went to him u will get a few replies : )
I went to the website of Dr. Rosner and I am afraid because he had had alot of lawsuits against him. Still looking.
Thank you
sonya Barefoot
U may want to send youngwife a PM as she is not a regular poster on this site.....
That was the NC board not understanding like most Drs that we with chiari need Drs LIke Dr R and many of the others willing to treat us and do research on this condition....it is sad that those that do not understand tie the hands of those that do.
We have had several members that have gone to Dr R....
BTW- it is youngwifes daughters not a son that was treated by Dr R.

hi do you have an email addy for dr rosner?
My daughters are patients of Dr. Rosner. He operated on my oldest in 2007, and he did a great job. He is very thorough, meticulous, and has a way of making you feel at ease. He is not at all arrogant and cocky like to many. Take a look at his ratemd score, and read through the replies.
Blessings,
Rebecca
