Hi...as the others have mentioned Yes...ne injury, MVA, fall, sneeze, cough, straining can trigger chiari symptoms to worsen....
Some can go yrs with no symptoms at all until they fall, then all of a sudden they r overwhelmed with issues and Drs feel u have had this since birth, so it can not be that...well they r wrong, it CAN be that.
Then there r some of us that have had symptoms our whole lives but could not get a dx or answers until later in our lives....
It is not an easy condition to dx, or understand...we r all diff and experience it differently.
I had a very minor fall at work 20 yr ago, which began a cascade into total disability. I didn't have a Chiari Dx until this yr.
I had symptoms my whole life, looking back now too. I had neck and shiulder issues and pressure headaches, drop attacks etc for 5 years straught before my dxs, but it wasn't til my ex pushed me down that's when the bad daily headaches began.. so answer to your ? Is yes...an injury will case it to progress quicker....
Yes injury can cause progression. I was 37 when I discovered I had chiari (I was not injured) as it had progressed to where I had a CSF blockage and they symptoms had gotten really bad. Finally they were doing an MRI to check for MS and found chiari. Looking back knowing what I know now I always had symptoms yet they became in interference of life when I was 37.
