Do you think I should continue to see both NS s or stick to the one who is a specialist in chiari. I don't know if my insurance will cover me seeing both?

Continue with the EMG many of us have had this test it helps to prove the issues r from Chiari and not carpal or tarsal tunnel....

I was told I had both, had surgery for the tarsal tunnel and now have nerve damage....the EMG will help ur Drs figure out what is and what is not going on....so do have the test.

I saw a NS today and he said I Chiari 1 and he also thinks I carpal tunnel and said the numbness in my legs is something else and ordered another MRI an emg. The MRI is for the spine and brain. The emg is for my legs. He prescribed gabapentin for numbness. He didn't seem to concerned with my symptoms so I got home and called.another NS at Hershey med center and got an appt with him he is a chiari specialist.

Hi....as Mel mentioned above, u may have EDS, but those with Chiari can also develop RA as well....ne auto immune disorder or connective tissue issue can affect us as well....EDS is a connective tissue disorder which affect out joints....

Many of us can also have an auto immune thyroid condition which can affect our vitamin and mineral absorption just as with  EDS or taking GERD meds.....the lack of vitamin and mineral absorption  can cause pain too.
