pain relief

Hi! Can anyone tell me if there is anything that helps nerve pain after surgery? I am 5 mnths post op and still have unbearable pain in my neck,  left shoulder that sometimes go down my arm, low back and right hip pain. Last mnth I had Mri's done and  my surgeon said they look good. I went and saw a pain Dr. and he put me on a muscle relaxer that's supposed to help but so far it hasn't. I am having more pain now then I did before surgery and I am becoming very depressed. I am worried that when I go back to the pain Dr. he might say there is nothing else he can do for me. Also can Chiari cause problems with your period?

I do have  a chart with the exercises I was told to do in my profile page......read my comments under the pic as to which ones I was told to do, not all were recommended for post op for chiari.http://www.medhelp.org/user_photos/show/171420?personal_page_id=197028&photo_collection_id=1369

U may be doing too much, I am 2 yrs post op, and not working nor driving....u r still healing and will up to 2 yrs....so if u feel bad, do cut back what u do and how long u do it.

Hi Selma... The exercise I do for my neck is slowly putting my chin to my chest and leave it there for a few seconds and also move my head from side to side. I was told not to use heat on my neck only use a cold pack. I know I have cervical stenosis and the pain that I had from it before surgery was manageable but now it's worse. I work in retail and have to stand and bend down a lot. My coworkers are great though, they don't make me lift anything heavy or climb ladders. I am coming to the conclusion that I might have to reduce my hrs.

Hi...to have worse pain post op is a sign ....u need to get ur Drs to listen to u.....

DO u do the exercises to help with range of motion in ur neck?

Have u used heat b4 doing the exercises?....it helps loosen the muscles first.....relaxes them.

If what u have is nerve pain, u will most likely need an EMG to make sure....I have no idea what might be the best to relieve it.....

May I ask what u do daily?....
