Positional changes wil bring strong to severe HA's with nausea and vomiting, light and sound issues....

But laying flat is the best position to be in with this....

if it is a slow leak, it may not be as severe, but u will have symptoms as u change positions.

I dont have the dizziness since my pain meds were lowered and the only pain i have now is neck stiffness, some from the tape pulling my hair, and the occasional headache

There are several types of patches used for duraplasty.... bovine, which she had, and cadaver, synthetic and pericardium which we had, this is our own tissue from our scalp...some NS's harvest from the thigh....

Oh, that is what is called a bovine patch? Oh, yes of course. I have heard of that... so its defintitely heard of and I think its used quite a bit if I am not mistaken...
Still, call ur NS asap.

Perhaps your body is beginning to reject this foreign object.. I say foreign because it is not a part of you... is there a soft squishy bulge anywhere near your incision? I don't know why it isn't protocol for surgeons to harvest scalp skin for duraplasty. It makes the liklihood of rejection WAY less. The lining of a cow heart? Never heard of that before. I'm sorry, I don't mean to discredit your surgeons as they all use different techniques.. just sounds bizarre, but I am sure its not heard of. Do call ur surgeon.. it sounds to me you could have a CSF leak due to rejection of the material used for duraplasty.
Please keep us posted.. praying its nothing,
Krystal

Hi as Krystal mentioned, u need to know what all was involved in ur surgery to know if this is something to be concerned about.
Other then hearing this, do u have ne pain or dizziness?

If this continues and u r not sure if u had a duraplasty and what type of patch u may have gotten u may want to call ur Dr to allow him to calm ur fears.

Do keep us posted on what u find out : )

Hello there and welcome to our zipperhead family. Just a few questions if you don't mind... did you have a duraplasty? If so, what was the material? I didn't have the duraplasty so my surgeon says there is no risk of CSF leak... If you are concerned at all, please don't hesitate to call your surgeon's office..I pray there is nothing wrong, and I do urge u to call. If anything it will ease your mind :)

Best of wishes,
Krystal
