some doctors believe they are god!!!

Question

so I saw the first ns for fusion. he was soooo arogant and doubted me. I told him if he goes on traeting me as if I am stupid and dont have a clue of anything i´ll leave his office. he said i have instability between c3-c4. anyhow i wont let him touch me...he doesnt dserve a cent for his arrogant behaviour. runaround ...how i hate it!!!!

hey...just an update in numbers. my orthopedic team was meassuring my instability between 3rd and forth vertebras. so the max angle u can have on flexion in normal range is 10 degrees, I have 20! and the difference in mm should be 3...mine is 6. i found it was interesting. i am glad i foud out if it comes to surgery i would ´just´need cervical fusion between 3 and 4 which is way better than skull plus 3 vertebras. Thanks...and my nephew is learning to ask for help too, and not turn to drugs...he knows he can not keep doing it and that he needs help...so one step at a time....

i think the minimum a sick person can get is attention, respect and a helping hand...i am pretty proud myself...the good thing of my chiari journey is they I am learning to speak up and dont accept everything anymore...so sorry for ur nephew...i hope he ll find a good understanding doctor

Iris, I am so sorry u had to deal with such a personality...not sure y they feel so superior and y they feel the need to be on a pedestal...but I am so happy u knocked him off by saying what u did : )

 I have an issue with Drs like this as I had an intervention with my nephew and found his Dr is doing the same to him, ugh.....no wonder he went back to drugs,,,,I only hope my sister can find a Dr that understands and listens so he can get the help....that is all we all need is a well experienced dr that listens is it too much to ask 4? sigh

thanks cw...so sweet!!!! I really dont get why some doctors or people are so arrogant and I just cant accept it...My family raised me showing me I have to have respect... In the end I am really happy I am not like those people and will never be.When I told him I have instability he said no u DONT...u have chiari...he said I will order u some new images...I said I dont need images, I have them all and pulled out my flexion/ extension xrays...then he shut up...because he saw whats going on...aaaawwwww...i am just happy I educated myself and have this great forum!!!!! <3<3<3

It is frustrating when we meet quacks like that. Sorry to hear you had to deal with it.

We have to keep in mind - the Dr may have a paper on the wall stating he has went to school. Big Deal! You are still his customer! It is no different than if you hire someone to care for the lawn, if the work isn't up to 'your' standards, then fire them just the same. One two many people excuse such additudes figuring 'oh, Dr knows best....' But that is what allows some to develop the god like additudes. 

Frustrating, but please try not to let it keep you down. That will only make you feel worse. As my wife says 'time to turn on survival mode'.
