2 1/2 yr old daughter not socializing

My 2 1/2 year old daughter does not socialize with or barely even acknowledge other children, except mainly to avoid them. She has been in the same daycare since she was a baby so she has had plenty of exposure to other children. The daycare teachers have indicated that they are concerned because she is not even patricipating in "normal" parallel play with the other kids. When she was younger, she enjoyed the other children a lot but in the past several monthes has become very anti-social. She socializes well with adults and is very affectionate and talkative with them. Everything else seems normal  although she does throw a lot of tantrums and is very resistant to potty training. Does this sound like something that should be evaluated further at this stage or should I wait and see if it is a "phase"?

It does not sound like any specialized treatment is called for at this point. Sometimes we expect too much of two-year-olds when it comes to socializing. Give her time - she is likely to improve in this domain as she develops further.

I just wanted to add some addiitonal information to my post. My daughter does socialize well with adults but only ones she knows and lokes. Generally she doen't respond at all to people she doesn't know well.
