HI, I know that this may sound strange, but my sisters little boy use to do the same thing. He would get mad for no reason and bang his head on the floors, walls or whatever was close. My sister was at her wits end. One day he did this in front of our mother and she went into the kitchen and got a pitcher of cold water and dumped it on is head while he was having a fit. He stopped and has never done it again. This was 5 years ago and he is now a happy goal achieving student at a school for talented pupils.

Set boundaries and stick to them. Make sure you are not negatively reinforcing your child's neg bx by playing into the tantrum...ie, if he throws himself on the floor because he doesn't want to watch a certian tv show, then ignore the bx rather than turning the channel.

Sources of frustration/upset in a two-year-old can look minor from an 'objective' point of view, but from the child's perspective they can be quite upsetting. If the tantrums are 'non-destructive' - i.e., no harm is coming to person or property - you can safely ignore them and let your son quiet down on his own. If the tantrums are destructive in nature, restrain him until he quiets, employing occasional soothing words as you do so.
