3 month old with excessive coughing and congestion.

My son is 3 months old and is congested with a slight runny nose. 2 weeks ago he was giving antiobiotics and a nebulizer. At first it helped but now he seems to be coughing more and he has a runny nose again and the snot is green which is a sign of infection right? He sounds like he is trying to hack up a nasty goober. Sorry of that is TMI but that is the best I can describe it. Is this normal?

Good news that he is on the mend. I am glad its not pneumonia! It is very worrisome to have one so small so sick. Now Mom can hopefully calm down and get some rest as well. I am glad he is better!

he is getting better already! However, after his family doctor came to the hospital and seen him, he requested another chest x-ray. He sent it to a radiologist from a different hospital and he declared that it is was NOT pneumonia. YAY! He just has the nasty croup. He is on breathing treatments, cough medicine and a steroid to help his immune system! I am glad his Dr came to see him!

As he is only 3 months old I think it would be a good idea to take him back to the doctor because as you say he has an infection which needs addressing, possibly a differant kind of anti biotic I would take him back as soon as you can to seek further treatment for him Good luck let us know how he is doing.
