3yr Old W/ Signs of Autism?

Reading other forums looking for answers, it hit me that my son may be showing signs of autism or pdd.
He will be three soon and does not speak. He will align all his toys by color, size.He will get very upset if anything is moved. Even align the canned foods at the supermarket. He does not play with other children, only at the gym. He laughs at destruction and throws tantrums that can last over and hour. He runs from the living room to the day room back and forth non-stop for over an hour. He flaps his arms, and jumps (hops) if he isn't running. He does not pretend play. He gets very upset when he is out of his environment. I tought maybe he was being babied by my mom. Should I be concerned that it may be more?

All the sysptoms that you described are pointing to possible autism. i can say this because not only am I a special ed teacher for children with autism but I am also a parent of a child with autism. I highly suggest that you contact search and serve through your local county superintentant of school. If you do not have a search and serve ( it may not be called that in your area) you can contact your local Regional center for children with disablities and ask for an assessment. Every city has one( My city Regional center is called Kern Regional Center) If you don't find a regional center I would contact your doctor and ask for assessment your doctor can be a big help in services. The earlier you receive assessment and intervention the better your chances for success for both you and your child. Please know that if your child does have autism
IT IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE!
my daughter is a blessing to me and she has taught me to see the world in a very different light. I am able to enjoy the small things in life and she has taught me that it is the small things in life that really matters.
If you need any more info or just a shoulderl please let me know and I please let me know how you and your little man are doing.
My prayers are with you!
Your friend,
Christy ;)

If a child is not immunized and they are in school If other classmates are all given the flu shot the child that is not immuinized had to be pulled out of school for a few weeks. Which to some parents would be a hassle of course, but that just goes to show there is something going on when those kids are given the vaccine.  Another thing to consider BIG drug companies are behind all of the vaccinations. Schools are also given $ for children who are vaccinated. U.S. children are the most over vaccinated children in the world. Compared to Europe and other countries their children dont get nearly as many vaccinations, its ridiculous.
Consider this also your doctor and doctors office is being paid to give out those vaccines. Another interesting fact MOST PEDIATRICIANS DONT VACCINATE THEIR OWN KIDS.
Most parents also dont realize that if you dont immunize your kid and send them to school all you have to do is sign one little piece of paper and they are excempt. Fortunatley we have freedom of religion in this country.

There is a lot I don't know, clearly and I am going to research it.  thank you very much.
I didn't thikn they were being giventhe disease the are being immunized against.  I have asked that question to a few different docs and they all said no, like the flu shot, it's not injecting the child with the disease.
I'm very confused.  I consider myself an educated woman, graduated college and do a lot of research as far as my daughter is concerned and I will definitely pick up those books you wrote about and I will definitely look inito this much closer.
It's a scary world we are living in.  I never know what's safe and what's not....

I agree with you when you say that it's upsetting this wasn't addressed sooner but stopping immunizations isn't the answer.  They think it might have a correlation but aren't sure and if your ped., like mine, doesn't do the 5 in 1, there isn't much of a connection at all.

Not true. It only takes one shot to screw up a kids gut.
There is alot of literature out there on the subject as well as "Non typical" Average pediatricians who are out ther as well who would dispute you and your pediatrician. Boys are more sucseptable than girls, there not sure why, may be becasue of testosterone.  Unless you have researched it (I have) dont just assume what your ped is telling you is accuarte or true. Alot of the diseases that these kids are being immunized for were on there way out when they atarted them back up. Autism is very much on the rise it is all over the media like crazy. In 1980 kids were only getting 20 vaccinations now they are getting up to 68 . There are plenty of parents out there who saw their children change overnight with just one single vaccine.

Immunizations may not be the only factor but it can be a contributing along with other environmental factor along with genes.
The child needs to heal the immune and gut before the brain can get better, that starts with stoping the immunizing.
Which chance would you rather take, loosing you child to a possible lifelong  developmental disorder or taking a chance they may catch some disease that hasnt been around in 20 some yrs.? Clearly you dont have alot of knowledge on the subject. Of course the child needs therapy as well.

Also Congress has been having hearings on the whole matter of vaccinations and how they are affecting children. Why do you think they started taking thimersal out of the vaccines? What do you think happens when a child is immunized? They are given the diesease they are being immunized for.

The average doctor is not trained for this stuff. They went to med school yrs. ago. Times are a changing. DAN doctors and Homeopathic/.Naturopathic are the ones that will tell you different.

If a child is not immunized they are not doomed. There are plenty of supplements they can be given to keep their immune system up.

Every parent can make their own decision. It is there choice. But in every decison there should be education.

It makes me so sad when I read stuff like this.
The child is 3 yrs. old and you are just thinking this now.
He very much sounds like he has ASD or on the spectrum somewhere.
It doesnt make me sad that you as a parent arent aware or mabye have been  in denial. It bothers me that your pediatrician didnt notice anything.
Take him to a DAN (destroy autism now)doctor in your area  or  a Developmental Psychologist/Pediatrician. Unfortunately it might be to late for him for Dept. of Disabilities Early Intervetion. Most states it goes from birth to 3. Then after 3 you have to apply for long term care, which is a pain in the butt. He will most defintley though qualify for special needs preschool. Again you need a diagnosis of some sort and it all depends on where you live and what they offer.
Stop immunizing him and get him on supplements,at least to start an Omega.
Nordic Naturals DHA is good.
Good Luck

i agree- your son exhibits some of the classic signs of autism spectrum disorders. as upsetting as thinking this may be, please know that by getting him services as soon as possible, you can help him tremendously. i have seen occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy do wonderous things for children like your son. in addition, many towns provide early intervention programs for 3 year olds who are diagnosed with special needs, where he would get a lot of the therapy and interactions he needs. and if your town does not have a specifc program, it is their responsibility to provide him with the services he needs (at least that's what it's like in my state).
