6yr old has started shaking head randomly

My son is a healthy 6yr old and does academically and socially well in first grade.  Over the past several days I have noticed he will squint his eyes and shake his head side to side a couple times; this is similar to a reaction someone might have if they were lightly splashed with water.  Tonight I told him I noticed he has been shaking his head and asked him why.  He stated that it feels like there is something in there.  I asked if he meant in his hair or inside his head and he said inside while pointing to the very top front center of his head.  Any thoughts????
