She's a Sinffer

My daughter is six years old and she will not stop sniffing me?  She asks for my sweaters or scarfs at bedtime, prior to that she is always coming up to me hugging and sniffing me when she can or when she remembers?  She takes my pillows off the bed my blankets and sniffs them.  On top of that, while shes "sniffing" she makes a noise similar to Curious George the monkey?  Is this something I should be alarmed at? Having said all that, I should tel you about her upringing that may hold the key to this habit.  I raised her alone for most of her life until about 1yr ago when I got married, prior to that I was a single mom living in a one bedroom apartment.  She has slept with me from the day I brought her home till I could finially afford a 2bd apartment and gave her her own room.  Could this be part of the issue?  Is she withdrawing from sleeping with me?  My husband finds this really annoying and problematic, what should I do?

I guess I failed to realize that aspect (similar as a favorite teddy or doll for comfort). She is sharing me now,  and does miss the comfort of being next to me all the time.  I really dont find this to problematic, my husband makes its seem like its a problem and gets really annoyed by it, my daughter and my self are extremely sensitive, husband is in-sensitive.  He gets upset when my daughter sleeps with my sweater or scarf and makes me take it away.  Any advice on sugar coating the issue to an in-sensitive military man?

She is doing this for comfort being that she can't sleep with you anymore. She just needs the reassurance for her own comfort. She may be copying the monkey off of the show too which shouldn't cause any harm. If this is problematic, then talk to her about her behavior and ask her to stop doing this. Would it be a big problem if she has maybe one of your sweaters to cuddle up with at night? This is just the same as a favorite teddy or doll. Remember that her whole world has been turned upside down and inside out and changes have been made to what her normal life has been.
