Can't get vaseline out of my hair trying to get rid of lice

Can someone help me get rid of vaseline from my hair. We are battling lice at home and Vaseline was suggested for my hair.This is day 4 with the vaseline still "stuck" on my hair. I have tried...cola, dawn, windex, clariified shampoo..I am going nuts. Plus we are checking for eggs everyday. We are almost done with our first week. Is there a simple remedy for getting this guck out of my hair..I have heard vinegar or rubbing alcohol. Would that work and if so how do I do those remedy's...Please help.

Have you tried dish detergent?  That may help.

I read to get hair wet, place cornstarch on the areas that have Vaseline on it, and then wash with clarifying shampoo.  So, try cornstarch before you shampoo.  good luck
