Destructive behavior

Our 11 year old is really sweet, mild mannered and keeps busy in the boy scouts but recently he has ruined a knife by cutting the side of the counter and the kitchen faucet. We rent and are buying a home so won't get a big chunk of our deposit back. Why is he doing this?

have you asked him why he is doing it? he is a boy scout would they be using knives at this age? If so maybe he is bored, take him outside and give him wood or something to keep him busy. I don't think you should be alarmed but I would watch him to see if anything escalates or if he is infact bored

Hi and welcome. I believe its normal for a boy to do this at his age. He knows its rental property and does not belong to his family, he just dosent know that you will loose deposit money because of this. Tell him what deposit money is all about. It may sound silly, but we have to teach our children everything, even things that we think the know.
