12 year old sons mental heath

I have always been aware that my son was, and still is very shy. I hope that he might grow out of it,but within the last year he has some strange behaviour?
: he is always worried what people think, He looks uncomortable when eating in front of others, even myself and his dad, he will try to hide his mouth and look the other way, if he walks past a group of others he will walk sideways on to not make eye contact, He gets figety when eg: shopping and tries to walk around other people rather than just walk normally past them. His fine moter skills are clumsy, and his gross moter skils also. He is always spilling things and banging himself on furniture. should i talk to my doctor?

Yes, his situation does invite concern and it would be prudent to arrange evaluations for him. Possible routes are a single evaluation with a developmental pediatrician, or separate envaluations by (a) a mental health clinciian,  (b) orthopedic specialist and (c) occupational therapist. You might also ask his pediatrician if a neurological evaluation is warranted (in light of the motor problems).

It would be a good thing to have a talk with the doctor; both to role out the reason for his weak motor skills, but also to role out eventually social anxiety, Aspergers syndrome and similar issues. Better to be on the safe side than go around worrying.
