Is it Normal for a child to have sexual interest at four years old?

Hello everyone.

I have a step son who is six years old 7 in August. When he was four years old I woke up to him sucking on my breast and putting his hands down my underwear I woke up In complete shock and asked him what he was doing? He didn’t reply he just ignored me I explained to him that it unexcatable to touch people in that kind of way.

When his dad arrived home I informed him of what his son has done and he said “ he is just a child” which I was not happy about. This behaviour continued not necessarily with me but he would hump his dad and play with his dads chest on one occasion we went church and kept touching this women he was 5 by this time he is now seven he still continues to touch his dad inappropriately and his dad said it’s just his comfort. Ever since I have not been able to bond with him cause it just makes me feel disgusted but I love my husband so much and don’t know what to do.

Unfortunately, I don't know what "touching his dad inappropriately"  means, so its kind of hard to answer.  What he did at 4 or even 5 really doesn't have much to do with what he does now.  Little boys can be very touchy/feeling.  It sounds like he has a great relationship with his dad.  Perhaps what he and dad can do is to get the book, "I Said No! A Kid-to-kid Guide to Keeping Private Parts Private".  It is something that they can read together.  It will help him protect himself in case it is ever needed and also give a good vocabulary that can be used to explain things to him.  You can get more info about the book (and others like it) here -

Hope this helps.
