Loss for words

I have a 7yr old child that has ADHD & ODD, he continually uses objects such as, cups, trash can, toy bin, even his brothers play pen, & the floor to urinate in/on. He has a psychiatrist, however they are no help & explain everything away as he's just being a boy. When you ask him why he does something, he will cast blame on others or just say "I don't know." He has several blood siblings that he has no contact with let alone he knows nothing about, that have extreme psychiatric issues(schezophrenic, manic depressant, bipolar & paranoia) I am running out of answers, and am a lost for words. This is putting a heavy strain on our famliy, he has a younger brother who he has taken aggression out on, so he is not allowed to be alone with him.

He has not physically hurt himself, but he does do extreme things that he gets hurt doing. He also talks to himself alot as if he is talking to someone but there's no one there. I over heard him talking to his step-sister about him punching himself. When he 3 he would vividly describe apparitions that we could not see, some he would be scared of & others he would tolerate even play with. He still talks time to time about an apparition he said came home from school with him. When you ask him who he is talking to he will always respond "no one."

We thought that he might have Aspergers, he doesn't make friends very well. Kids like him but he annoys them very easily. He cannot stay on subject with what they are wanting to do. He also does not understand social cues, and he jumps into the middle of every conversation, and cannot hold himself back from being in the middle of anything in a social setting.

Punishments do no good with him. He doesn't care if you take anything away or if he has to sit in timeout. He does not accept responsibility for his actions and thinks that everyone else is just being mean.

I typically do not post personal stuff online, but I am needing some advice and not sure on where to turn. Despite being on meds, he's behavior is still the same.

Please if anyone can shed light on this please do so.

It may look like some kind of emotionally disturbances, which often is the case for non-organic enuretic behavior (voluntary wetting on unappropiate places) and dissociation such as the apparition. In case of emotional disturbances punishment, and expecting responsibility, will often make the behavior worse since the behavior in itself is a way to communicate the need of emotionally peace.

Emotional disturbances as a result of stress show often very similar symptoms to Asperger syndrome since the main difference is that the kid with Asperger syndrome doesn't have social skills where the kid with emotional disturbances has it but are not using them because of stress. But non-organic enuretic behavior is not very common in Asperger syndrome, and so I find it more likely to be stressrelated rather than Asperger.

First, I am sorry that your psyc is such a waste of time.  Everything that you have described is pretty typical ADHD behavior - or at least behavior that I have seen mentioned on the ADHD website - http://www.medhelp.org/forums/ADD---ADHD/show/175      a lot.    And you might also want to continue this discussion over there where I am also the CL.
Briefly, cause this could take pages.  There is a lot that can be done.  You just need the info.
What I am most curious about is why aren't the meds making a difference?   What is he on and what dose is he on?  Also, how long has he been on the meds.  His behavior should change (at least at school).
And meds are only part of the answer.  As you are finding out.  I can literally explain to you why ADHD is causing him to do all of the things you have listed.  And if you want to post over on the ADHD forum with specific questions - I will be glad to do so.
My main suggestion is get the book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley.   Its about 10 bucks on Amazon.  It will give you how to help him at home.  How the school can work with him.  How to effectively try and change his behavior.  And most importantly, it will also give you a feeling for how ADHD effects kids.  That apparently is something your docs have not bothered to tell you - and from the questions I get over on the ADHD forum - this happens a lot.
I can also recommend other web sites that have good suggestions on how to help/work with kids with ADHD.
By the way, believe it or not, kids with ADHD have 4 times more problems with "wetting" accidents then other kids.  Basically, they just ignore the signs until its to late and then pee where ever they are.  Its about getting them on a schedule.  And kids with ADHD really need  to be on a definite schedule - particularly at this age.
