Medicine Question

My son who is 9 years old was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 6, we have tried adderall, aderral xr, medate, medadate xr and now have gone throught all MG of daytrana patch. He is also taking .2 clonidine at night to help sleep. He also has ODD, my question is what medication can we try him on now that will MAYBE help with both? We have tried the Tenex smallest dose possiblr 1/4 pill in am. And he just could not function. I was wondering about Vyvanse or Focalin XR what is actualy know about the benefits ( if any) for treating someone with ADHD & ODD. Any imput would be helpful.

ADHD and oppositional behavior are not treated with one medication. The most frequent combination is a psychostimulant to treat the ADHD and an antihypertenisive (like Clonidine or Tenex) to addres the oppositional behavior. One thing you might consider is employing Strattera ( a non-stimulant) to treat the ADHD and to divide the Clonidine dose over the day to address the oppositionality. In other words, ask the doctor about giving some at night (he might not actually require .2 mg at night) and then even a quarter of a pill in the morning and perhaps after school.
