My granddaughter chases boys...

Hi, Hoping that someone can give a bit of advice. My 7 year old granddaughter is often chasing boys. It seems that she needs to get their attention and for them to like her. Recently she brought a forbidden item to school to impress a boy and received a couple days suspension. I'm concerned where this need for attention from boys will take her. When I take her to the playground, if there is a boy close to her age she will chase him around the park! She seems to get attention at home, although there are younger siblings, and at our house but not from boys. We get her every 2 weeks along with one of her sisters, my son (her father) lives with us as he is unemployed. She doesnt have the ideal living situation at home, many people in and out of the house all the time, including younger children but doesnt seem to crave attention of anyone in particular when I've stopped by and observed. She loves to dance and sing, although she isnt another Jackie Evancho, but I was wondering if getting her in dance classes which would put her on stage occasionally would help. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. Grandma in Illinois

The performing arts are perfect for those who need attention and approval. I don't know if that is the healthiest outlet, but it is socially acceptable.

The crux here is in the sentence that there are many people in and out of the house' which tells me they are a social ,gregarious family, and she is following suit.I would suggest that you go with the flow , you cannot change it, and it may make her unhappy if you try to curtail her.Maybe she is used to boys coming in and out when she is at her house and that's why she prefers their company .The fact she likes to dance and sing shows its encouraged and I think that's a good thing .So she sounds pretty lively and a character .enjoy...yes dance classes would be great she would love it ..
