Need help with my 7yr old boy!!

I have a 7 year old son who is smart, sweet, kind, etc... He is a wonderful child. He was born with an imperforate anus and underwent many surgeries, hospital admissions, IVs, etc.. At the age of two everything was physically resolved and this is when the behavioral and emotional issues began. Today, he cries unconsolably for anywhere from 8-30 minutes in school for small disappointments. If he is playing a game ( in class or at recess) and gets "out" he gets upset and runs off, cries hysterically to a point of hyperventilation. He lacks focus, concentration and coping skills. His teacher emails me everyday about these incidents. He broke his desk in school frombeing so upset and slamming it shut, he balls up in the corner of his classroom and cries, he runs out and screams "I wish I was dead" or "This game is for smart kids." He has been in therapy for two years with two different therapists. While I understand he shows symptoms of ADHD I also realize there are other conditions that have similar if not the same symptoms. I am in the process of changing his diet, taking him back to the GI to be sure everything is still ok internally, the surgeon to be sure he is functioning mechanically, the allergist to see if there is anything I don't know about and lastly, searching for a psychiatrist to see if there are other alternatives we can take in behavior modification. If there is anything else we can try or strategies his teacher can use in the classroom, please, I am open to suggestions. We are at our wits end and are at a complete loss! Please help!!!

He doesn't necessarily hold it in but will burst without warning. When he's calm he does talk but not as much as I think he should be able to. He has trouble putting words to feelings so I am forced to do a lot of coaxing. He can't take more than 2-3 instructions at any one time. I have started giving him a homeopathic remedy for attention called attend. I am also taking him to a neurologist next month becasue he does have auditory processing problems which I'd like to get to the bottom of. I'm so afraid to accept the adhd diagnosis because its so widely diagnosed and misdiagnosed. I want to be sure there is nothing else we're missing.

Will he talk to you about his problems or does he hold it in side until he bursts? My son is adhd, odd and a mood disorder, he is on meds because of it. The lack of focus, concentration and coping skills seems like adhd. Does he have a problem with directions, from parents or in school? Do you have any one on one time with him during the day? Is he a only child? With just the surgery and in and out of the hositpal had to be very hard for him, I hope everything turns out alright at the GI doctor!
GOOD LUCK
