Child Bowel Weakness

My youngest (Jessica age 4) has a slight problem in that without her knowledge she regulary poops her pants in small amounts. Wee wise she is perfect and never wets herself. She goes to the toilet for number twos no problems. Her problem comes when she is not expecting to go and soils her pants in small (but devestating amounts).

When Jessie was born she was diagnosed with an "anterior anus"(sp) Basicly her bum hole was to close to her wee hole and the doctors were concerened then but no action was taken. I have spoke to my GP who says that there is nothing to worry about but that was a year ago and I feel that at 4 years old and bone dry throu the night she should not be having this problem. None of my other babies have had this problem and I'm just so worried that Jessie may have an under lying medical condition that may be causing her (and The Wife and I) great distress.

I Intend to get a referal to the pedeatriton(sp) who dealt with Jessica when she was born to express my concern but am hopping for some advice or maybe just reassurance that all is well.

It's most likely that all is well and that the guidance you received last year is still applicable. However, a year has passed and you are doing the prudent thing by calling this to the doctor's attention. The most frequent reason for such occurrences in young children is a state of constipation or impacted bowels and sometimes it's not evident that this is happening. Be sure to have it checked out - it may be what is causing the difficulty.

with an anterior anus, your daughter may have some problems with soiling,  she may not be totally emptying....i suggest seeing a pediatric surgeon who could probably do some testing to determine if the displacement is causing her this problem  good luck
