bedwetting

Hi.. I am rasing my grandchild who is 7 yrs old and has ODD, and DAD ( disorganized attachment disorder ) not a reconized disorder, He is also been tested for ADHD and possible underlining autisim. He wets the bed allmost every nigh and wears a pull up, which is his choice, because he does not like wetting the bed. My question is, when he goes to his dad's, his dad will not give him the pull ups. He states that his son does not need them and that he wakes him up around 12:30 to 1:00 at night for him to go pee. My grandson does not like this. Is waking him up at this time helping him. I ask him to buy the pull ups has this makes my grandson feel more comfortable in going to his house. I
have total and soul custidy from both his parents. ( my daughter is the mother ) I am going to court for visitiations and so far all visit are up to my grandson.  Is it all right to just have him wear the pull ups or should I wake him up at night allso for him to go the bathroom.. My grandson does notlike change and does have a soiling problem as well when he is stressed or I change things to much. Am I the one being stubborn or should I stick to my guns on the pull ups.. I am going to court on this issue in December of 2008.  My grandson is seeing a pediatrition but my grandson father is question him in regards to his profession.

It's fine to let things alone in this regard. There are enough more important matters to address re: your grandson that you can ignore this one. If his father prefers to wake him up, it's not going to do any harm. At your home, if your grandson prefers the pull-ups, so be it. If that was the only issue he is facing I'd likely offer you different advice. But, under the circumstances, there's no point in battling over that issue.

Pullups are known to slow the progress of potty training. You should wake him up at night to go potty. No child likes this but it is necessary. You said that he does not like wetting the bed, so try him in regular underwear. A few nights of soiled sheets should solve the problem. Good Luck!
