clenching fist when anxious

my daughter was a typical outgoing, fun loving little girl.  she attends pre-k full time at a private school.  this year there were more boys than girls in her class... and her "best friend" went on to a different class.  not only was she withdrawn during the day, but became increasingly anxious and unhappy about going to school.  she has a coughing-cold and suddendly became incredibly scared that she'd infect others with her "germs".  so afraid of her "germs" that she holds her breath when she's near others...even walking thru a crowd of adults.  and just recently she started clenching her left hand into a fist - even when she runs (which is not a normal way to run).  she takes a long time to warm up to a new group of people, but can be incouraged to go say something to someone new.. or even introduce herself to a new child-- so it doesn't seem to be a total "shut-down",, just the physical things she's doing are concerning me.  any thoughts?

Perhaps dont feed into it if she finds she is getting attention about her doing this she will do it more, focus on her positive side, some of these behaviors can go unnoticed so let her do them do not ask her or respond to them, you can also try distraction , and get her involved in activities she likes so she isnt so anxious, we all worry about our children and it normal for you to, maybe she has picked up on this.Let her go her own way and speak to a child when she wants to do so , give it time .good Luck
