eight year old masturbating

Hello I have an eight and half year old son and i recently discovered he has been masturbating. I found him laying on his stomach on top of his hands moving around. I have told him that this something that is private and that he should not do it out in open but by himself in his bedroom he of course swore he was just laying on top of his hands. I have discussed this with his pediatricion who assured methis was normal. Last night while i was doing laundry i notice his underwear had a white crusty splotch on them that wasnt urine. Well I havent and wont say anything to him, but my question is, is this normal for an eight year old (will be 9 in 4 mos) to be able to ejaculate? Im kind of embarrassed writing this. I guess i need to be reassured that this normal.

It is normal for children to masturbate. From what age can a child ejaculate?

All I can say is that it is the most normal thing to occur in a male about that age. He is just currious about what that part of his body is for. I should know, I have a masters in Child Sexual Health. It is also normal for him to ejaculate if he is masturbating verry often(like on a daily basis). So dont stress out it's all normal. My son went through the same thing.

Hang in there.  Boys are a different breed.  I think the biggest challenge is keeping them from killing themselves before they are grown.LOL  I have two boys age 11 & 13.

Good luck and God bless

The masterbating is normal at different ages.  You did the right thing.  Now, if you think he may be masterbating in the open, tell him to take his hands out of his pockets or go to his room.  You don't have to tell him what you think he is doing.
