Its normal Even for younger boys. He is at the agE where most boys are masturbating, he doesn't need councElling. HE is growing up, and will probably start doing it more oftEn. Good luck.

I agree if your son is not a very young lad then it is normal yet I would get him starting to do his own laundry maybe by telling him he is getting older and beginning to be a man and needs to learn how to do it and so it would be his responsability to not only do his clothing yet his blankets and sheets.

This is normal depending on the age of the child.  What is the age of the boy, if you don't mind?  If it is an appropriate age, it is normal and don't make such a big deal out of it.  I wouldn't let him know that you know anything.  This may embarrase him really bad.  This is a part of human nature, and hopefully he has had sex education in school.  If not maybe, you can send him to someone to talk to....it would not be wise to be the one to be his couselor.  Just like you stated in your question/comment.  Good luck with this; I know it can be very sad to see your little boy grow into a man.  I would recommend giving him his privacy and not be to concerned, b/c it is a normal thing.  Hope this didn't offend you; just trying to help.
