severe behavior for 8 year old

A good friends child who is 8 years old has started fits of rage that last from 30 to 40 minutes. I came on in the end of one of these fits of rage. This child was kicking, biting her mom who was trying to hold her down to keep her from hurting herself. I was able to take over and settle her down by holding her, rocking her in my arms and singing to her. This child has been diagnosed with ADHD she has had issues in  school with trying to hurt herself or anyone in the way. These fits recently are only with her mom. She acts out with the sitters but no fits of rage. She has 3 other sibblings and is the youngest girl. She has been in therapy for at least two years. She has been on vyanse 30mg, trazadone 75mg and celexa 30 mg. with this background information, I am asking how much is to much medicine?(this child weighs 55lbs.)If she were weaned off all meds, where does the family go for there? Could this be a deep need for more attention? I have watched her family and the parents are very good about individual time with each child. Please help they look up to me for advice and now all I know to do is pray.

Ask the Mom what triggers the Rages try to work out what is happening just before,as she doesnt do this with the sitter ,As usual and I do know there are times for Meds but they do sometimes make a situation worse and they nearly all have side effects, read the paperwork that comes with the Meds, this is thier decision to come off meds and if they do they need to ask how they do it, very slowly I think,How do the other siblings react to her are they kind or is there any teasing or problem there ,should be addressed and Mom cant see it.Has she plenty to do and doing things she likes to do, how does school go is there any issue there , get her Mom and you to be observant and check out what is happening this sounds like a cry for help.
