bright 7yo, reads text L-R - but reads numbers backward?

My Daughter has very good grades overall and well behaved. Her school teacher (30 years experience) has noticed that 7 yo reads 2-3 digit numbers backwards i.e. insted of saying 37 child will say 73,Teacher has never experienced this before with children.

Child has an understanding of basic maths, numerology but reads numbers from right to left, and words from left to right. Child is left handed and has fine motor skills, no other disabilities..could it be a mild form of dislexia only with numbers?

sometimes it's called dyscalcula I think

Children like this have to "train" their eyes to notice the farthest left number FIRST.

My husband used this method for dyslexia- make a piece of paper with a  very tiny box (cut out area) in it, where the child can read only that entire number- then take it back to first left digit and have their eyes train to read L-R, one digit at a time- have her say each number from left to right- out loud or whisper it at least- then look away and say it, then look back immediately and see if she sees the same number.

Our elder son was like this.  I thought perhaps it was dyslexia but the school said "no".  At the time I did not pursue it (he is now in his 30's so things were different in the 1970's).  Also, whenever he made a check mark, the tail was on the opposite side.  He was right-handed but could use his left hand almost as well.  He seemed to outgrow this when he reached Grade 5 and actually, math was his best subject in high school.  So, I tend to agree with you - probably a mild form of dyslexia.  I do not know if this would help - could he practise reading numbers at home - say for 5-10 minutes a night?  Just a suggestion ....
