Sounds like he has discovered a way to make his potty needs, Your problem, and not his. Removed the pull-ups, put him in super hero pants. If he makes a mess, hand him a rag and some cleaning spray and have him clean it up (you'll have to go back over it), but once he see's it's HIS problem, he'll be more likely to solve it on his own by choosing to use the potty.
yes sitting is okay in fact they do get muddled between the standing and the sitting guys have to do ...maybe supervise him when he is without any clothes on , get him the big boy pants it makes them feel strong like the hero's on them, and lots of praise when he uses the potty.actually at this age you can get him on the big toilet .if its too high get Dad to make a little step .
update-help he is now when he getss home he as started to run around naked when i went in the room the on the floor a diaper open and everythng and once even with a dirty bottom but we leave the potty out an he is starting to go near it so he is working and he did tell me he feels uncomfortabe in a full diaper but he likes not wearing diapers now but i dont want him to mess on the floor so dad is teaching him to pee sitting and it hopfully will work
My son is watching a DVD called "The Potty Movie" with great interest these days. There are also really a lot of good books written for kids that explain potty training. Try "The Potty Caddy" if you can find it, it's a kit with little targets to float in the toilet, book for the kid, book for the parent, and some other goodies also. My son's fascinated by the DVD ... sometimes it takes hearing it from someone else besides mom saying it over and over like a broken record.
I agree with Margy. The pull-ups feel too much like a diaper and never worked for me. I had to buy training pants (which is heavier than regular underwear but still cloth underwear). You can try that to start off with but I like what Margy says about the Super Hero underwear. Let him help you pick out some special underwear with whatever characters he's in to and explain to him that he's a big boy now and doesn't need diapers.
Reward him when he does go on the potty and doesn't have accidents. Get a sticker chart for him and let him put a sticker on it every time he goes. Then when he gets so many stickers he can pick out a prize. Try to put a positive spin on it. At 4 years old, he's more than ready to be completely potty trained. It will just take some patience and positive reinforcements but if you stick with it it shouldn't take too long. Best wishes!
Remove the diapers entirely he is too old for them and its not doing him any good. Get big boy underwear for him with the super hero's on them,he will get used to going to the bathroom at school it shouldnt be hard as he is older and can understand more ask the teacher to remind him to go.It wont work until you take them away .. He wont like it ignore the wailing, make no issue out of it.less said .it wont take long to get him used to regular pants .Good Luck
