my baby is almost 12 weeks old. she was born with a birth weight of 2.35kg. i exclusively breastfed her for 2 months, then started supplementing with formula. i am now giving only formula. however, she will drink only a total of 500ml per day! she takes one 1hr-nap during the day, and sleeps for 9-10hours at night. even when i wake her up during the night for an extra feeding, she drinks only 30ml then goes back to sleep. i do not know if this is good or bad. i feel that the amount she is drinking is not enough, but she seems content, and does not want more. she refuses when i try to feed her more. help please!
Her weight is just above the 10th percentile which is normal for her age. As a guideline for a 0-4 months old infant should eat the following: Breast-milk or Formula (2-4oz) 8-12 feedings a day. Sounds like she enjoys sleeping. If you are concerned by the amount she consumes, suggest changing her diaper after she has consumed the first amount. That will ‘wake’ her up some and may consume more formula. Hoped this helped you.
