Right side neck pain after neck manipulation

Hi! I am a 33 year old female and just started seeing a chiropractor after being released from the hospital to help with pain from being in bed. My pain was in my upper and mid back but when he x-rayed my neck he said it was curved the wrong way. So, he did a manual neck manipulation. I was sore that night and the next day but I assumed it was just from the manipulation and that it would go away. My next visit, I explained it to him and he dismissed it as normal, did the same neck manipulation and this time he put electric stimulation pads on my neck and put me on the traction table. The next day, my pain was worse. Very tender to the touch. Doesn't ache so much and I can move my head without it being bothersome, but if you touch it - that's a different story. I have read about everything from pulled muscles to artery tears and I am genuinely concerned. Can someone shed some light on this? I have a family and cannot afford to have a stroke because I went to see a chiropractor for back pain!!! Help!

Let me start by emphasizing that it's highly unlikely for a person to suffer a stroke resulting from chiropractic manipulation.

That being said, there are a variety of ways to receive chiropractic adjustments. The doctor you chose to visit may be using a method that doesn't work well for you. If you have a reversed cervical curve, specialized care may be necessary.

Here's a list of cervical specialists in the state of Kentucky. You might consider calling one of them for a second opinion.
