bulging c5 from injury, what to expect and how to get rid of pain?

A little over a year ago I was in a car accident, and have suffered from neck pain since.I have failed physicl therapy, I do use a tens unit almost daily, motrin, and numerous other prescrittions, all failed so far, to alleviate pain and give me back mobility. I get trigger point injections as well when needed. I have not slept in a bed or used a pillow since the injury occured, lying on floor is the best way I have found for me to sleep. My dr. prescribed cymbalta, that gives me headaches...it was not discovered until like 14 months later from an mri tht I hve a bulging disc...so finally I have a reson for this pain..prior to that I felt like my pain was not taken seriously and I was a nusance to my dr What can I expect now that I have a diagnosis?  Hopefully no more prescripions with short term solutions, I wnt a permanent solution...is that possible?

Surgery is your best chance at "permanent treatment" but comes with many risks. I recommend giving chiropractic care a shot at managing your symptoms. The risks are significantly less than surgery and it can possibly do away with the drugs/injections you have been taking, also get you back in bed!.

Good luck

After failing P.T. injections and other conservative treatments, I'm sure you know whats next. That would be a surgical consult. As someone who has major neck problems and has had surgery, let me caution you.

There are certain types of pain that the surgery helps and certain types that it doesn't. It is very effective on radicular pain, that is electric stabbing pain in your shoulder, arm and hand. In some cases it doesn't help much with neck pain, although mine has gotten a lot better and its not constant anymore, but I still get the headaches and it doesn't help much with the awful  pain between the shoulder blades that all of us seem to have.

So you really need to think long and hard about whether its an option for you. If your pain is unbearable or there are serious neurological issues, then you need to consider it. If not, try some more Physical Therapy, maybe traction or get a referral to Pain Management.

Prior to the accident was this type of pain experienced?  Was the bulging disc a result of the car accident?  My mom has herniated discs and is always in pain and now her neck is bothering her as well.  My back is beginning to kill me now as well.  Hope you get answers as to solving these pain issues.

It hard when doctors don't take you seriously.  Now getting the disc in place?????
