Some people develop what's called a lipoma beneath their skin that is a harmless mass of fatty tissue. I've had patients in the past who had these -- some very large. Is it soft and easy to move around, or is it hard and fixed? Also, does it hurt or is it painless?
That might narrow it down a bit.

Well its deffintly bigger than a coin, but no where nere as big as a basketball, suppose im just concerned about what this could or could not be, I thank you for your time, and when i recive more information i will get back to you.
Thank you again for your time
Well there's a significant difference between a "hump" in the spine versus a "lump."
By "lump," you're inferring something small, round and raised - about the size of a coin. A "hump" would be something much larger, the size of a basketball perhaps.
The type of hump you referenced occurs in between the shoulder blades, in the thoracic spine - not in the neck.
I went back to the hospital to day for my ultrasound scan for this large lump on my neck, the lady who took the ultrasound said she could not see anythin and that i might need further tests done such as an mri scan, I wonder what this could be, could it be curvture of the spine a dowagers hump does that show up on an ultrasound? hope you can advise further as i can not get an appointment to see my GP untill next week thanks again for all your help
Thanks again for your post I willl send you the findngs of the results when i recive them, althought my appointment for my scan is not till the 11th of august, so some time to wait.
Thankyou again for your time
If it's fixed, further imaging studies will be needed to take a closer look at what's going on. Email me your report, or post it here after these are done, and I'll explain the findings to you.
Warm wishes,
