High HDL with high LDL?

My lab result came back with both HDL abd LDL high.  I thought that one would offset the other? Please explain.

HDL being high does help lower total cholesterol as total cholesterol is the ratio of HDL and LDL.  So, they counterbalance each other in terms of TOTAL cholesterol. Does that make sense? https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316586#Good-vs-bad
