What is the deal with 3 months?   Why the specific deadline?
Is that your next doctor's visit?

Also I doubt  you have to get all the way to 4.5 within 90 days.
If you got to 5.0 during that time, that would be good progress upon which you could continue to improve.  If you got to 5.0 in 90 days I don't think the doctor would insist on  putting you on drugs right away.

Remember,  you are only 27.   If you are put on drugs, its for life...
Over 50 years of taking a pill.
If that is something you'd rather avoid,  perhaps you can,  but the changes you'll have to make will have to be very substantial.
Probably FAR more than the dietary steps  you have taken thus far.

In fact,  to get from your 6.4 to 4.5 you'll need a entire lifestyle switch.
I've lived in Australia and I can tell you,  the change will not be what the average guy is doing.   You won't be popular at the pub on your new diet.
No more steak and chips.
But I certainly wouldn't rule it out being possible if you are highly motivated.

I'm guessing  you'll have to go a long way  toward being mostly "plant based" in you diet.  BTW I'm not either vegan or vegetarian, but I eat in that direction.   Then again, my cholesterol is already 4.5 or less when tested.

It is true that most of your cholesterol is made in your liver, but that does not mean that you can't get more than a 10% reduction from dietary changes.
That "only 10% from from what you eat"  can be very misleading and you are not limited to only a 10% lowering if you eat perfectly.

Lots of people have lowered their cholesterol way more than 10% without resorting to drugs.
Individuals  vary greatly.   Some get dramatic results while others get minimal results without resorting to drugs.
You'll never know which type you are unless you try.

Again,  the changes would have to be very substantial.
You may well be unwilling to go that far and instead decide you'll just use a drug.    You will be encouraged to be placed on a drug if you don't make large changes that produce results.

You can change your diet in a huge way without becoming full vegetarian or vegan.   I have done that but still enjoy a little meat here and there.

Take a look at this Australian site.
http://www.wholefoodsplantbasedhealth.com.au/heart-health/diet-and-cholesterol/

If you spend some time looking all around that site,  you can see what a mostly plant based diet is about.
I still eat my Weetabix for breakfast,  but I use soy milk on the cereal.
Don't miss the milk at all.

Take a look.   Think about the next 50 years.  You decide if its worth it.
With or without drugs,  you'll need to improve your diet and exercise.

Do I think your 30% is achievable?

For some people yes..  For others no....

Different people respond differently.
You may be able to do it, especially if you don't have to do it all within 3 months.
However you  should know if you are on the right track within 3 months of doing a complete change in diet and exercise.
The experiment is up to you.  One additional side benefit is that you should lose substantial weight along the way.

Here is a site.  One of many.  I offer it to you only because it has a very active discussion board and over time I have seen many people talk about their success...and also their difficulties.

I don't eat precisely like those on that board do,  but do eat in that general direction.

Look at all the discussions and i think you'll find many discussing lowering cholesterol, mostly with out drugs.

They also have one board called Testimonials and Success Stories.
I'm sure there are some examples there.

Look around at all the boards.  Probably someone similar to you.

Again, it may be easy for you,  or difficult without drugs.
People vary greatly in how they respond to diet and exercise.

There are other forums.  I chose this one for you because it is very active.
I'm sure some of the contributors are from Australia.

Let us know how you are doing and if you found anything of help on that site.   Again, I don't follow any one doctor or specific diet.  Then again, i don't have a cholesterol problem right now.    I'm just trying to eat as healthy as possible.

Thanks so much for your great reply.
I have started to be a vegetarian for a about week now!well i only had seafood twice and the rest was 100%vegeterian.also started exercise, i exercised for my whole life apart from last 2 years which i started bad habit of eating out and not much exercise!

like to be vegetarian for rest of my life as i kind of hate meat right now! but at the other hand when you are forced to do something its hard! specially when everybody around me has so much of meat foods!

I need to bring my cholesterol down about 30% to be prefect! Dr said lose weight and exercise and come back to check up after 3 months!

do you think thats achievable?

At your age it is possible, but it means being serious about your diet and lifestyle. Life style changes alone may reduce you TC 10% in 90 days, but remember only about 10% of your serum cholesterol comes from what you eat, most is made in your liver which is what the meds control. Also, exercise lowers cholesterol by creating HDL or good cholesterol which plays a role in removing bad cholesterol and that is a slow process as well.
