Statins and Hair Loss

I was wondering if anyone here has experienced hair loss from taking a statin. My husband was placed on Lipitor about 5 months ago and has noticed that he's losing more than a normal amount of hair. His hairline isn't receding; it's thinning from all over.

jeannine as Jon suggests, it's a possibility, but hair loss could be linked to all sorts of issues.  Certainly, genetics play a huge role as does stress and many other issues.  In my case, I started turning bald about age 40, ten years before I started taking statins.  I wear my bald pate proudly, and I must tell you, a low cholesterol level trumps a head of hair!

Hair loss from Lipitor happens in patients in .1% to 1% of users. You should mention it to his doctor as there are other statins that are not as likely to have this side effect.
