Chronic hives

bwb
I have had hives for almost three years now. Every antihistimine and stomach pill (that has a histimine blocker) has been tried. The only relief I have gotten was when I went on Cyclosporine for six moths. This is an antirejection drug. I do not want to stay on this, but have been off of it for five months now, and hives are starting to return. Sometimes they are red splotches on my skin, other times they are thick welts, both itch unreal. My eyes, lips and feet swell also. My eyes and lips swell till I look like someone has beat me...Any sugestions???

heres my story, I hope I can help people that struggled with this. I was so depressed that I couldn't figure out what was happening to me and there wasn't much information about the condition. But after spending hours every day for a long time researching this condition, experimenting with everything and anything I could, I finally found something that worked for me. First of, I'll explain what happened. I played sports my whole life but when I was 19, I was playing ice hockey and I started to get rashes during and after play. I wasn't sweating at all. It happened on a just a normal random day, I play hockey twice a week and had done for years. It came out of nowhere. A few months later, I moved to Australia and basically couldn't live because the weather was so warm  and I couldn't sweat. I was anxious and depressed because every time I was supposed to sweat I broke out in rashes. I spoke to numerous doctors and specialists, spent hours on forums, all of this to seek a solution. Finally I looked into a website that claimed to have a cure. I forget the name however, essentially the solution was a lifestyle change. I realised I ate junk my whole life, I also had a blood test and realised I was intolerant to wheat, milk and eggs even tho I had been consuming these intolerances my whole life but perhaps my gut had enough and was acting up. So I had an allergy free diet, ate organic, natural and healthy foods. I juiced daily. All this for an entire year, I gradually saw improvement over the year and finally I was cured. No more rashes. I couldn't believe it, I could finally live without anxiety. I'm completely normal now and I'm so happy. I'm sorry I can't find the name of this website but it's out there. But I would suggest to everyone that's suffering to have a blood test, see if your intolerant to anything, look at your diet, figure out if your eating crap. Lead a healthy lifestyle, juice daily, eat clean and give it time, give your gut a rest, time to reset it self, the gut can do this. I hope you all find this helpful, it worked for me. I wish you all the best, I too once was on these forums looking for answers and can now say I'm cured.

Antibiotics cleared my hives.  I had swollen eyes, lips and all over welts.  My doc tried a high dose of antibiotics and all was better. Until then life was hell.

I have had hives for 3 months. Was on Clindamycin for 10 days and Prednisone for a month. Steroid cream and polybacitracin ointment for over 2 months. It all started when a flea bit me after I had been on  a smoothie cleanse for 2 months before. The hives turned into Cellulitus. Some got the size of grapefruits on my upper arms. I'm still breaking out, but not as bad on my face and hands. I've almost just given up and can't deal with it anymore. I'm having the rest of my teeth pulled and getting false teeth. If trying to get healthier is this painful then I rather not be. It is causing me so much anxiety and causing problems in my marriage.

I've had chronic urticaria for 17 years.  I've tried almost  every possible drug for urticaria except omalizumab. I survive on zyrtec, strict diet, and prednisone to get through bad flares. In mid October, I started acupuncture treatments. After the third treatment, there was a substantial drop in incidence of hives. I'm on my fifth treatment and the hives are virtually gone. I'm hopeful this will be permanently effective for me. My understanding is that acupuncture is effective for chronic urticaria in a high percentage of cases. I hope I remain one of those cases.

FINALLY healed. I did herbal parasite cleanses, which got me close. The hives would always return after a few weeks, likely due to the anti-inflammatory properties. Heavy metal cleanses did the same. I likely needed both of these anyway. Also, eating organic or at least non-GMO whenever I can helps a lot.

I then concentrated on cleansing my liver and kidneys. Turmeric, dandelion root, and milk thistle seem to be the ticket.

Stone Free - Support for Kidney and Gallbladder
Christopher's Liver and Gallbladder
Milk thistle
Turmeric
1 avocado daily

Best wishes to you all!

you must look at the GUT.  Are you heavy in the stomach/intestine area?
Parasites/yeast issues are COMMON .. & you don't have to have gone to 3rd world country ... they're coming to us in food from these places.

I'm dealing these issues right now myself .. LOTS of info online.

Looks like my problem is with parasites. UGH, how embarrassing! It turn out this is hugely common and one of the most undiagnosed, rampant cause for many, many ailments.

Allergy meds and Quercetin work to suppress histamines. However, it is the histamines that rally the body's battle cry to fight foreign intruders. ANTIHISTAMINES SLOW HEALING so if you want to battle whatever is causing your hives for good, get off them!

Congratulations!!!! Man oh man, I fell off my wagon and began eating off the lunch truck, while coming home to a couple glasses of wine. I started waking up at 3am COVERED in the worst horrendously itchy welts so far.  They were minimal before when I went organic.

I think you are right about alkaline. Chlorella is on that alkaline list. This vitamin packed stuff is also thought to aid in removal of heavy metals and toxins. All the junk food I ate growing up and all through my 20's is seriously catching up with me!  My love of sushi may not be helping me either. :(

Still detoxing. It will take a few months, but i will try the diet you suggested. It's rough for a serious foodie!  But scratching until I bleed in the middle of the night is unacceptable.

I have been hive free since the end of June.   Not one spot.   I am still eating an apple a day and my diet is as nature intended.   I splurge now and then on something acidic, such as a barbecue sandwhich.   Plus, I make a point to stay hydrated.   From 8 p.m. until I go to bed, I keep a pot of herbal tea, caffiene free, beside me and I pour a cup to drink every hour.  If you go to bed at 10 p.m., you might want to start at 6 p.m.   Anyhow, this helps me.  If you wait to drink only when you feel thirsty, then you are already dehydrated.

The following is the site I use for my list of alkaline foods:

http://rense.com/1.mpicons/acidalka.htm

I hope this has helped some of the sufferers.  Btw, my heartburn went away when I started the alkaline diet.   It is important to note that one doesn't have to eat only from the alkaline side of the list in order to benefit from it.   Just reducing the acidity and keeping in the middle has great benefits.

Good luck to you all.

I looked back through the posts and on 6/512 poster named Bubbalou57 said there is a new injection called Omalizumab and is priced at $750 each injection.   I have no idea if it is effective or not.

Try the alkalinity approach..... it's cheap and if you have an infection in your system, it will calm the infection and the hives will go away almost immediately.   You will have results right away if it is going to work for you.

Good luck

I seem to recall posting that I would get an injection of something that another poster had mentioned.   I don't recall what it was, as I never needed it.  However, my hives were cured by getting on an alkaline diet and drinking lemon water everyday.   I've been hive free for 3 months now.   It happened practically overnight.  As soon as I started the lemon water, an apple a day and staying on the alkaline side of the food chart, the hives went away.

Apparently, my hives were caused by a minor infection in a root canal tooth.   The alkalinity made the infection reduce, therefore, eliminating the hives.  I was on killer antihistamines, Prednisone, Cyclosporin and Dapsone for 18 months with no relief.   Alkalinity was the key for me.  Infection cannot thrive in alkalinity.  Now, I'm back to eating more acidic, but I do keep up with the lemon water (with Stevia for sweetening) and eating an apple a day.

My further plan is to have the root canal tooth removed asap.  Since almost everyone eats processed foods, that may be the whole cause of the hives..... too much acidity in the diet; especially for children.

I have been trying to find help for my husband who suffers from this. Nothing has changed in our lives and he gets them every mornig and night. I don't care to put him on western medicine as I am a western practitioner myself and I know that it's just a bandaid for the symptoms. The hives will come back.

I have done acupuncture and also have put him on Chinese herbal medicine. He says he stops itching as soon as I put the needles in the points I chose and that he is 70% better overall. However,  he does still itch. His itching episodes have decreased in time as well. He is on no other medication.

I hope this helps someone. I saw how miserable he was when it was 100%. Now he runs after me with the acupuncture needles when it's time for another boost in helping him with his hives.

For everyone that is wondering why hives get worse at night, it's because our natural antihistamine levels drop at night. It's also common to get fevers. Your body temperature is out if whack and not regulating itself.

Drinking alcohol is a huge DON'T. This will make everyone's hives worse!

If this is happening to your kids, you have got to start feeding them an organic vegan diet and I do NOT mean noodles, oatmeal, etc. No grains! No wheat! No dairy! No flour! No garbage!
The kids need to get used to vegetables and fruits. The occasional fish and rice dinner is good too. Freeze strawberries, blueberries, spinach, and use these for smoothies. Kids love smoothies. Eat RAW as much as possible. We are designed to pull the raw carrot out of the ground which has cancer preventing dirt on it, that you should eat. Snacks should be raw broccoli, raw carrots, and some organic dip. You get the idea.

If you can get the kids to drink lots of water and green tea, that would help. I also believe what I said about cleansing, would be possible and beneficial in child form. For children I strongly reccomend a parasite cleanse FOR KIDS, then immediately after, a liver cleanse. Once that's done, empty the heavy metal toxins from their bodies by, yes you guessed it, a cleanse!

Turn the air down or heat down at night to cool off the house. Take colloidal oatmeal baths in luke warm water, then go take your ranitidine and cetrizine with a big glass of water.

Hello everyone. I am going to help you get rid of your chronic hives. I had them everyday for over 4 years. Prednisone was the only thing that worked. NOW I am on NO meds, and my hives are 80-90 percent better and have been for about a year.

Ladies, stop taking birth control with hormones. I guarantee this is making your hives much, much worse. Try the para guard or do what I do, cycle beads. They work and are what our ancestors used for hundreds of years. Sometimes life requires a little self control, but it's very much worth it.

Next, I did a lot of research to find out about blockers and inhibitors for cells and I came up with a combination that will knock anyone's allergies out. It's called cetrizine with maximum strength ranitidine. Take it EVERY night. Once you see the hives decrease, take it every other night.

Next, you have to cleanse your body. Dr Hulda Clark has a parasite cleanse you should do FIRST, then a liver cleanse, then a kidney cleanse, and especially after being on prednisone, a gallbladder cleanse.

Your body needs reset. This is essential.

Next, look at what your eating. Now open your mind before your answer this question, Is it real food? Cows milk, not meant for HUMANS, meant for baby cows. Bread, NOT food. Man made garbage. 95% of all chronic illnesses today are caused by the weakening of cells from putting garbage into our bodies. Think about it, would you put vegetable oil in your gas tank? It would ruin your car. Dont care more about your car than you do about yourself.

I'd like for you all to check out Ted Slanker and Natural News. Google them.

Now go out and get organic body wash or Aveeno. Dove has one kind that is okay and it has a #1 dermatologist recommended logo on it.

Now in ALL seriousness, you are dehydrated and you don't know it. The only thing you should be drinking right now is water and green tea and you should be drinking A LOT OF WATER!!! I can't stress that enough.

If you do this stuff, the hives will go away.

yes I have itchy rashes on the sides of my face and jawline. they first get itchy and then leave a red hive like bump that last for a day or so.  The redness only fades somewhat and then it will reappear again. Its a rash that never goes away.  I have thought I have demodex mites because I have rosacea and the treatment is the same for scabies...Invermectin.  Ive heard it can make the mites stir because they are dying and all symptoms get worse.  Did this happen on your face?

Genetically modified food begins with plants that are genetically altered to produce insecticides themselves. The insect that tries eating the GMO plant has a stomach explosion and dies. The FDA has announced humans are not effected, but a lawsuit in 1998 exposed numerous internal memos declaring the exact opposite. These GMO plants are weaker, nutrient deficient, and continue to carry the toxin. Animals are fed the treated wheat and corn and become nutrient defici and sicklyt. Then we eat them and become deficient and sickly. They tribute the astonishing rise of digestive problem, food allergies, and many other ailments to this practice for the last 20 years. This stuff is everywhere.

It has been about 9 months for me now. I get hives every night. They are greatly reduced when I cleanse but come back in full after a month or so. All my vigorous research points to some sort of problem with my intestines or digestive tract. I have no interest in taking allergy meds to cover the symptoms. Further harmful side-effects are sure to accompany that over a long term use, as I have researched them as well.

I recently saw this video at http://geneticroulettemovie.com/
about genetically modified foods. From now on I will only by food from Trader Joe's. Anything with there label is GMO free. Will post any improvements when and if they occur. Any thoughts?

Be sure to check your bedding for bedbugs.   They hide during daylight hours, so have a look at your bedding around 1-3 a.m.   Look under the mattress, too.

Also, hives are somewhat raised like a welt.

Yes, if the red areas are in the same spot for more than 24 hours, then it is probably not hives.

I think you have folliculitis.  Does it cover the outer portions of your arms, legs, and back?  Does it stop at your neck or chin line?   When I had folliculitis, it stopped at my chin line.

When I had the folliculitis, my skin felt like it had cornmeal on it and the rash was only at the bump and it itched like crazy because there were 100's of them.   I couldn't stop rubbing my arms, knees, etc.  I took oatmeal baths everyday and that seemed to help immensely.   Put a cup of oatmeal in a blender and blend until it's a powder.  Put a cup of it in your bath and stir until dissolved.  That is the cheapest way to do it.
