COPD

I'm 41.  Woke up one morning and could not take that deep satisfying breath.  Dr did a spirometey test and said my FEV1 was 64%.  Dr said my lungs sounded clear and my xrays were normal.  I then had a contrast CT and Dr said that was clear and didn't show anything.  I'm so confused?  Do I have emphysema or not?

When I was 1st diagnosed with emphysema 16 years ago my FEV 1 was 62%.  It is now 48%.  i believe NORMAL for your age should be 80%.  Go see a pulmonologist.  Most family Dr.s really don't know much about emphysema.

I was having SOB, so Dr did a spirometey, which I failed (FEV1 64%).  Was prescribed Breo inhaler, now have burning sensations.  Dr ordered CT, but that came back stating no acute abnormalities.  I know COPD is emphysema and/or chronic bronchitis, but Dr said CT scan showed neither.

If you smoke stop. You haven't provided enough information to advise. You could have small lungs or asthma. A negative CT is reassuring.

Stay well.
