Copd questions

I just got recently diagnosed with moderate stage of COPD, my FEV1 is 55% predicted. I have quit smoking, and im 40 years old. How much time do I have to live, and what can I do to help my condition? I have a husband and 4 kids so I want to do the most possible to be with them as long as I can.

Thanks, Gena

Your numbers are good. Exercise (walking, ride a bike, etc..) Eat healthy and LAUGH alot. My husband was diagnosed two years ago at moderates to serve stage. His doctor told him 1 1/2 to 3 years to live. Now he is in the final stage. His fev1 is 20. He tries to make the most of his days, but it's a struggle. We make everyday memorable for him. At this point he not promised next summer. We don't dwell on unsettling future without him. We are just enjoying every moment.

Quit smoking, take regular breathing treatments as per doc instructions, oxygen at night, day if recommended and exercise.Don't forget my hubby has had it 15 years. AND HAS LOST 80 %. ]His LIFE EXPECTANCY IS 10-15 YEARS MORE AT 69.
