I am sixteen years old and I have been battling a number of symptoms for over a year. My doctors have not offered any sort of diagnosis and I need to figure out what is wrong.
I have been having headaches nearly every day for months. They don't feel like migranes and the migrane medication that my doctors prescribed didn't help at all. Sometimes they get so bad that I can't function. It feels like a build up of pressure under my skull that's threatening to burst.
I am constantly tired and no amount of sleep seems to help. I feel like I have tried everything; from limiting myself to 8-9 hours of sleep a day (for about a month--which only made it worse), to sleeping nearly half the day. I am a straight A student and I am involved in clubs and sports, it's difficult for me to keep up with my own life when I always feel like I'm about to crash.
Often I feel like someone has poured cement in my joints. Some days it takes me an hour just to get out of bed because the pain is so unbearable. I don't recall straining anything and the pain occurs randomly in my elbows, knees, hips, back, even my fingers sometimes.
This all started about a year ago when I started having stomach problems. Everytime I would eat I would get a sharp pain in my lower left abdomen. I had scopes and they found swelling, but nothing was ever done about it. Lately I have been having trouble keeping my food down, everytime I eat I get nauseous and tend to throw up after meals.
I've had blood tests which came back negative, my thyroid was checked multiple times, a heart moniter which found leaky valves, and I've tried a number of medications for my headaches and stomach pain but they don't seem to be helping.
I feel my doctors are not even trying to diagnose me. My symptoms are getting worse and I don't know what to do because they are starting to interfere with my ability to perform daily activities. Any suggestions of what may be wrong would be really appreciated.
