ESLD and Personality Changes????

My mother in law, who seems to be really sick with ESLD, has been spending a lot of money lately, and seems somewhat manic or euphoric. Do you think this could be HE or some kind of coping mechanism. Like, she's lost a lot of weight recently, apprx 50 lbs in a month, and that seems very scary to me but she seems thrilled and buying new new clothes and seems to have all this energy. It's strange, considering how poor her health seems. Anyone know how I should handle this? The HE worries me because she lives alone.

At the top of this page is a magnifying glass icon, you can use it to search for ESLD. I just did this and here is another person writing in and the answers they received, I hope this might help you.

Hi there, it could be HE.  There can be personality changes. Can you get her to a doctor to have her ammonia checked and have other blood work done to see how she is doing?
Does she have any other symptoms of ESLD? 50 lbs in a month is an awful lot for anyone.
I know you must be worried, so sorry
