Is swelling due to fluid build up in the body a liver problem or kidney problem?

My sister in-law is Asian and about 45 years old. She has diabetes. In recent years, she has swollen due to fluid build up in the body. Doctors suspect liver disease. She was once cured before. But the condition is coming back again. She has become pale and yellow. Is that liver disease or kidney disease? Is there a chance for cure? Will she get better? I can post her blood tests if some doctors can have a look. Thanks a lot.

We do not have doctors here we are a community of patients participating in an online support forum. For medical questions it is always best to consult your doctor.

When you say she was cured once before what was she cured of?  Did you have hepatitis C or hepatitis C?  There are many medical conditions that can cause edema this is best diagnosed by her doctor.

So sorry to hear about your mom best of luck to you both.
