Long trip on plane with Cirrhosis ?

Hello everyone! I'll try to get to the point the most as I can, and please, don't mind to much my bad English.

6 years ago, I've been diagnosed with an alcoholic cirrhosis at age of 26 (drinking all day..) after vomiting blood (oesophagial varices rupture).
By luck, my cirrhosis get compensated quickly, and I get better some weak after.

Since 6 years, I don't drink or eat ANYTHING with alcohol, all my blood test is OK (but platelet still at 90.000/100.000, It's the only thing a little too low)

My medication was: Oxazepam (Seresta) because I suffer high panic attack or stress, Ezomeprasol (IPP, H2 blockers) and Propranolol 160 Mg. Since 6 years it's my everyday medication.

My child plug score is A : Albumin OK,Bilirubin OK, no confusion, TP 78%, No ascites and my last test said that my portal vein is permeable (?) So no blockage I supposed?

My hepatolist don't mind checking for new Oesophagial check, just my 6 month test, depicting cancer. Nothing to declare, my liver is sharp on one side, but no big deal.

I've planned to travel to Japan, all is already paid and it's my dream to travel in this country, but I'm a bit anxious about high pressured flights. Is there any danger seriously?

The travel is 12 hours long, with a pause after the first two hours. My generalist was happy for me, and when I talked about that with my hepatologist, he never said that I can fly or anything!

But internet really scared me with all this case and people who fear to vomit blood on plane because: no medical supplies for that.

As I said I'm pretty nervous by nature, so reading that make me depressed and I'm not hyped anymore...I have the sensation I'll die on plane or at arrival.

Someone, a doctor, a person like me, someone who knows about that can help me PLEASE? I'm confused right now, I've never imagined that plane can be risky before getting an eye on internet THB.

Many many many THANKS. My departure is in 3 days...

Ask your doctor if it’s safe for you. We here are only patients and cannot offer medical advise.

The best I can tell you is I traveled from Seattle to Italy while on treatment for hepatitis c and with having cirrhosis for about 7 years at that time and had no incidents. This is just my own personal experience.

For medical advise ask your doctor. Your personal medical situation is not the same as mine.

Thanks a lot fir hou reply ! I hope you enjoyed your travel ! Yeah you're right everyone is different! But as an informative post : I'm in Japan! Taking the train, walking for so much I can't even count, and flying for 2 hours + 11 hours straight to Japan!

I'm just tired as a normal human, so in my case it's OK to fly. But for peoples IN MY CASE, yes you can ! But always ASK YOUR DOCTOR!
Totally agree with you ! Thanks again !
Hope you have a fantastic trip

Enjoy!   ;-)
